Preliminary Collage Explorations

This collage depicts the street adjacent to Mass St. I think this a great place to show the change of time in a place because I want to show on one side the street during night time, and show on the other side, what the street looks like during the day. I noticed that during the mornings or earlier hours, you can see people going to class, or people jogging and exercising. However, during the night time, specially during the weekends, there are a lot of people that go partying, and head towards mass. Using this street, I want to possibly show the two very different sides of activity that happen in this area. So, in this collage, the location is used in two ways. The location has two sides that can be easily separated using the road itself. Using the road, we can see the change in time not only through the contrast between night and day, but through the activities that occur during the two cycles of the day.

This collage shows Clinton Lake.  I tried showing Clinton Lake from a perspective from the middle of the road. Like the Mass St collage, I want to show on one side, night time, and the other side, day time. I would split these two sides using the middle of the road. I think this place would be a good place to show the night and day sides that I wanted to show from the first four ideas I had because I don't have to worry too much about traffic. In addition, I originally wanted to work with the sky, so with this location, I can effectively show the change in time using the road to split the collage down the middle, and use the sky as a reference to the change of time.

View of the sunset. Over time, show the rising and setting of the sun, with the setting of the sun being the main focus of the project because I feel like it looks the prettiest.

Inspired by one of my friends who had the brilliant idea of composing a collage of mass street similar to the picture on the right where one side of Mass St. would be portrayed during the day, and the other side being composed during night time with vibrant lights.

I'm not quite sure how I would compose this, but I think it would be awesome to compose a collage where it portrays space through the actions of the car. This is my friend's car shown going through the snow. I had an idea where the car would be shown going through different types of environment like mud, snow, water, or dirt. Since we're supposed to use people or places to show how time or space changes, instead maybe show a person running through the environment being covered in snow, water, dirt, etc.

Pictures of Clinton Lake. I'm not too entirely sure on what I want to do with Clinton Lake, but I feel like there is a lot of potential to show the progression of time and space on Clinton Lake. When I look at these pictures, my focus is more towards the sky, so maybe I could show how the sky changes over time, while I use Clinton Lake as a base for the photo. Maybe show the sun rising and setting, and moon becoming more visible.
