I posted the above pictures to show where some inspirations may come for the template for the book. After examining Loewy's works, its clear that one of his greatest interests is streamlining. I took a moment to look examples of cars and objects in a wind tunnel to get an idea of streamlining taking place. The above pictures shows a study in aerodynamics which I feel like is something associated with streamlining. (Wind tunnel-examining streamlining, downforce, lift, etc)
So here are some concept sketches of Loewy's ideas. Both of these were never produced, although a concept version of the pencil sharpener was made and sold for over 80,000. You can see the correlation between Loewy's interest in streamlining and the concepts that he had. The pencil sharpener is even reminiscent of jet engine.
